Don’t Let Congress Take Away Current ID Theft Protections!

Did you know that a key Congressional committee just passed a bill that lets companies keep you in the dark when your sensitive financial information has been lost or stolen? The bill also wipes out state laws that let consumers lock up or "freeze" their credit files from identity thieves.

Tell your representative to vote against this phony identity theft reform bill!

The bill provides some protections for consumers, but only after they've become victims of identity theft. At that point, of course, it is too little, too late. Consumers should be able to restrict access to credit reports and credit scores to prevent identity theft in the first place. And to make matters worse, the bill eliminates stronger identity theft safeguards that have been adopted by many states and prevents states from giving us new protections

Please join me in opposing fake reform and demanding real identity theft protections.
